Gudbrandsdalen has a rich and proud culinary culture – a heritage that clearly influences our kitchen today.
In our kitchen, we celebrate what's real and what's nearby. We mainly use locally sourced – sometimes from right outside our window – ingredients, which come straight from the valley and mountains around us. Wild sheep and outdoor pigs come from our own farm, while fish and game are delivered by skilled hunters in the village. Everything is prepared with respect for both the ingredients and the history they carries with them.
One of our most sought-after specialties is moose tenderloin – tender, tasty and served with love.
In our hotel restaurant, we serve Norwegian mountain food and traditional dishes with a modern take that are based on season, local techniques and the chef's own twist. Here, you can experience flavours that evoke memories and create new ones. The atmosphere is friendly and the room is warm – and meals are enjoyed in good company, whether you are travelling alone and find fellowship here, or are sharing a table with friends and loved ones.
What really sets Skåbu Fjellhotell apart from others is that we have our own processing plant on the property. Here, whole animals are processed – nothing is wasted. We cook broth with the bones, make cured ham, fenalår, bacon, sausages, burgers, pastrami and dry-salted smoked moose.
Everything you eat here is characterised by quality, good animal welfare, and sustainable value chains.
Whether you are on a long holiday or a short weekend break, we invite you to taste your way through the best of mountain food from Skåbu Fjellhotell.
Welcome to a momorable meal and stay at Skåbu Fjellhotell – a cosy hotel in the heart of mountain Norway.
