Jotunheimen – a short drive from Skåbu

Skåbu is just a short drive away from one of Norway's most majestic national parks. Jotunheimen – known as 'the home of the giants' in Norse mythology – consists of over 1,150 km² of pristine high mountain terrain, with peaks, glaciers and turquoise mountain lakes that will take your breath away.

Some mountains have stood here for millions of years, long before us, and they will remain here long after we have passed. Steady. Patient. They have their own silent language - a promise that some things will always endure.

Galdhøpiggen and Glittertind – Norway's highest mountains

This is real wilderness. No major roads, no development – just marked trails, a few bridges, and plateaus as far as the eye can see. Here you will find Galdhøpiggen and Glittertind, Norway's highest and second highest mountain, respectively.

The right to roam applies here; a freedom that Norway is almost alone in the world in enjoying. No tickets, no fences and no gatekeepers. Just you, the trail you choose, and the mountain that has always been there.

The Glacier buttercup – Norway's highest growing flower

In the middle of this hardy wilderness landscape, Norway's highest-altitude flower, the glacier buttercup, grows all the way up to 2,370 metres in elevation. It's a small, fragile example that proves that life always finds a way to thrive – even where you least expect it to.
