Skåbukonferansen
Next weekend, Skåbu once again becomes the centre of the conversation about Norwegian food production. Skåbukonferansen brings together farmers, researchers, politicians and engaged citizens under the theme "Clean Food – Rich Nature – Good Preparedness".
Only 3.5% of Norway's land area is arable. The rest is wilderness and mountain terrain, where grazing animals do a job no one else can: they secure our food supply. They also keep the cultural landscape and biological diversity alive, and represent our very own food security for the day when imports fall short.
Among this year's speakers are Minister of Agriculture and Food Nils Kristian Sandtrøen, Farmers' Union leader Bjørn Gimming and researcher John Linnell (NINA), who will address predators, grazing and biodiversity.
And the food? Friday lunch is served at Skåbu Fjellhotell, which also hosts the gala dinner on Friday evening, featuring local ingredients straight from the mountain village.
This is not just a conference for specialists. It is a gathering for everyone who cares about where their food comes from. Join us!
